Applications open for scholarship

Mon, 26 Nov 2018

Applications for this year’s Ella Olesen Scholarship have opened.

Female degree students who have received funding for their studies from the Department of Education, Sport and Culture (DESC), are being offered the opportunity to apply for the scholarship.

The successful candidate will undertake a course at the University of Idaho in America from August 2019 to May 2020, with flights and funding supplied through the scholarship.

Graham Cregeen MHK, Minister for the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, commented: ‘The Ella Oleson Scholarship is an annual opportunity, unique to female students as a legacy of the late Miss Ella Olesen, who died in 1985. Previously a registrar at the University of Idaho, Ella decided to leave a lasting legacy for female students in 1971, in memory of her mother, who was originally from Ballaugh.

‘This scholarship is an exciting, life-changing opportunity and past candidates have gone on to a variety of opportunities as a result, both in the Isle of Man, America and further afield.’

Applications must be submitted by Monday 3th December and application forms can be found online here: https://www.gov.im/media/1363621/application-form.pdf

Interviews take place at the DESC on Friday 28th December.
