Specialist teams from the Royal Navy removed two WW2 shells safely from a garden in Willaston yesterday.

The items were discovered by workmen who were digging up a garden on Johnny Watterson Lane on Monday afternoon.

Local officers have thanked residents for their patience and understanding during the 'contained' incident.

The Police have also thanked Civil Defence teams who assisted in guarding the scenes.
