Arson appeal after deliberate fires started in Douglas

Sat, 12 Jan 2019

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a number of fires which have occurred in the capital over the last week.

The incidents, which happened between Sunday 6th January and Wednesday 9th January 2019 in Mona Street in Douglas, are subject of a joint investigation between the police and the fire service and are being treated as deliberate acts.

The most significant of these fires involving a white Ford Focus being set on fire around 9.15pm on Sunday 6th January while it was parked and unattended outside an address on Mona Street, and separate occurrences of fires having been lit at the front door of a property in Mona Street at an unknown time on Monday 7th January and also around 2.50am on Wednesday 9th January.

Police patrols are being stepped up in the area and detectives are also in the process of conducting localised CCTV enquiries and carrying out a number of door-to-door enquiries in the area.
