The Island's Public Health authority is issuing advice following cases of scarlet fever in the Isle of Man.

The bacterial illness is easily spread , with symptoms including a sore throat, headache, fever and pink or red rash.

Public Health says it's important to contact your doctor if you experience the signs of scarlet fever.

Antibiotics can help reduce the risk of complications such as pneumonia, while those with the illness are urged to stay at home for at least 24 hours after the start of treatment to avoid spreading the infection.
