Footpath at the Chasm closed due to sinkhole
Thu, 28 Feb 2019
The public footpath at the Chasms has been closed until further notice following the appearance of a small ‘sink’ hole on the main footpath directly above one of the main Chasms.
For safety, Manx National Heritage request that the public do not enter the area.
Whilst currently approximately 2 metres deep, the hole could become much deeper. The closure will remain in place until further notice.
Walkers wishing to enjoy the public footpath and ‘Raad ny Foillan’ are required to re-route using public footpaths and roads during the closure.
Structural surveys will now be undertaken, prior to a decision on how to restore access to the footpath.
