Students react to concerns about single use plastic with petition

Tue, 30 Apr 2019

Students from a school on the Island have created a petition asking for the support of Government in the quest to discontinue the sale and use of single use plastic bottled water.

Members of Ramsey Grammar School’s School Council have submitted a petition to Chief Minister Howard Quayle.

The school stands to lose approximately £20,000 in revenue if it ceases to sell bottled water in the school canteen.

Conister Bank is working in partnership with the school, pledging to provide all students and teachers with plastic reusable flasks.

The bank has also promised to work with local businesses to encourage them to support the school by helping source the water fountains around the school which would be needed to make the initiative sustainable.
