Proposed changes to building regulations to go to before Tynwald

Sat, 06 Jul 2019

A number of proposed building regulation changes are to go before Tynwald this month.

The changes would introduce regulations designed to improve energy efficiency in buildings to help meet the Isle of Man Government’s climate change commitments.

The Isle of Man Government has said its committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The required standards and target values are set out in the proposed updates to the Approved Documents Order which will also be laid before Tynwald this month.

A consultation on changes to the Building Regulations and Approved Documents Order found support for a more energy efficient way of construction with the use of the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) being highlighted as an option.
