The ACU says injured Steve Mercer is getting their support

Mon, 12 Aug 2019

Claims the Isle of Man TT organisers haven't been providing injured rider Steve Mercer with enough support have been branded as disappointing by The Auto Cycle Union.

The rider suffered multiple injuries, including back, leg and pelvis fractures, when he was hit by a course car in practice week last year.

ACU Ltd has issued a statement in response to reports on its legal proceedings with Mercer.

The statement says that it's limited in its ability to respond while the court case is ongoing, but says its insurance package provides the best possible support for riders who have been recovering from injuries.

It adds that all rehabilitation required to assist Mercer's recovery has been provided.

The ACU has admitted liability over the TT incident that left the 37 year old with life-changing injuries.
