Manx archer becomes world champion

A duo have represented England in the International Field Archery Association World Bowhunter Championships in the US.

Manx archers Lesley and Rodger Sleight took part in the event, held in South Dakota.

Lesley became the World Champion in the Veteran Traditional Recurve Class and ranked third in the overall women's' category.

Rodger took bronze in the Senior Traditional Recurve Class.

Lesley was joint first going into the final day with Morena Vecchi from Italy and Clemintina Guechewski from Brazil just points behind.

Lesley and Clemintina swopped leads throughout the day but it was Lesley who clinched the world title on the final arrow winning by just five points.
