World Mental Health Day recognised locally

People across the Island are recognising World Mental Health Day.

This year’s theme is Suicide Prevention, which includes the notion of ’40 seconds of action’.

It’s estimated that every 40 seconds, people around the world take their own life.

Local charities are meeting at the Family Library in Douglas this afternoon to discuss how to help people tackling or facing mental health issues, and to encourage people to get together and talk.

Adam Hudgeon is the founder of REACH IOM – a charity he began in April this year after opening up about his experiences with anxiety and depression:
