Manx Wild Bird Aid seeking donations for injured raven

Thu, 21 Nov 2019

Manx Wild Bird Aid are reaching out to the public to donate towards an aviary for an injured raven.

A member of the public brought Odin the raven into a vet after he was seen unable to fly, but on examination Odin's wing couldn't be repaired.

His wingtip, which was mangled, was amputated and the vet practice contacted MWBA to look after him.

The charity have started a fundraising campaign to raise funds for a large aviary, as the cage Odin's currently in isn' big enough.

MWBA said: 'As ravens can live up to 70 years in captivity, this is a big commitment for us! We’ve currently got him in a cage, but he’s a huge and very intelligent bird and we need to get a large aviary set up for him as soon as possible.

'Odin is an adult and therefore he will have an aviary in the sanctuary that we are creating for wild disabled birds that are suitable for captivity. He won’t be going to any individual as he is not a bird for taming and has special needs.

'We already have a few sanctuary aviaries & we are building more & more all the time to accommodate the different species.'
