Police report 'tax' scam targeting residents by phone

Tue, 18 Feb 2020

Police have reported locals receiving calls from a person claiming to be from 'tax.'

Officers said the caller in each case has simply said they were from 'tax' and asked the victim for personal details.

The Force said the numbers used are not valid numbers used by the income tax authorities in the Isle of Man and the Income Tax Division would never contact anyone in this way.

Anyone who receives a call purporting to be from the IOM Treasury Income Tax Division should take the caller’s name and ring the Income Tax Division on 685400, where they will verify the details for you.
