The chair of Douglas council’s housing committee has hit back after criticism from the local authority’s two newest members.

Manx Labour’s Devon Watson and Samuel Hamer were elected to represent Derby Ward earlier this month, with addressing what they call a housing crisis high on their agenda.

Various posts on social media have attacked the council  on the issue, including recent comments accusing it of “fighting those who have decided to take a stand against poverty.”

However, Claire Wells feels the pair don’t have a full understanding of the problem.
