People are being warned to not enter private land on the Island - especially if there is livestock.

Police received reports on Bank Holiday Monday from a local farmer that several gates on his field had been left open on several occasions.

Officers from the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This has led to livestock leaving the fields and has unfortunately resulted in a plethora of issues that have now had to be rectified. This is particularly frustrating for the farmer as the fields have no public right of way through them, nor do members of the public have any reason to enter or use the fields in question."

"Please don't enter private fields or land and ensure that, if you do need to open a closed gate for whatever reason, that you take the time to make sure it is closed properly when you move on."
