Tue, 12 Oct 2021

Tributes are being paid to local resident and businessman Trevor Hemmings who has died at the age of 86.

Preston North End Football Club confirmed his death last night.

"A further statement will be made in the coming days but in the meantime his family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time."

The leisure tycoon was also a leading racehorse owner, winning the Grand National in 2005, 2011 and 2015.

He opened the Ramsey Park Hotel in 2012 and most recently made a significant donation to Rebecca House at IOM Hospice. Mr Hemmings opened 'Dylan’s Playground' only a few weeks ago.

The EFL said: "We are saddened by the news of Trevor Hemmings' passing and send our sincere condolences to all at Preston North End this evening.

"Rest in peace, Trevor."
