Fri, 01 Jul 2022
Douglas Rugby Club has confirmed local Manx man Phil Cringle will be taking over as Head Coach for the 2022-23 season.
Phil has had an impressive playing career culminating in playing for London Scottish in the Championship. He also has international experience playing on numerous occasions for Scotland Under 20’s. This will be Phil’s first head coach role.
Phil commented, I’m delighted to be coaching Douglas this coming season and looking forward to pushing on in regional 2 north west. I think its really important to IOM rugby players that we can provide opportunities to be able to play off island in competitive leagues, without having to leave home. Hopefully we can keep building on that!
Glyn Hooson-Owen, Director of Rugby, said “I’m looking forward to working with Phil. Phil’s knowledge of the game and enthusiasm will help drive the club forwards in its 150th year”
This season is Douglas’ 150th anniversary having been founded in 1873 - during the season there will be numerous events celebrating the event.
