Steam Packet teams up with local beauticians for Grand National

Fri, 17 Nov 2023

Wave a sweet goodbye to the hideous 3am start (yes for some of us that’s a reality) to get ready for the Grand National – thanks to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (IOMSPC) teaming up with local make up artists and hair stylist.

You can now get your hair and make up done for the races on board the Manannan, plus arguably the most important part - a glass of fizz included.

Next year on April 13 the company is offering a ‘Pamper Package’ which includes:

  • Return ferry as a foot passenger
  • Appointment with the beautician of choice
  • Complimentary glass of fizz on board
  • Direct coach transfers to/from Aintree Race Course
  • Entry tickets into the Grand National Festival Zone

The IOMSPC has partnered with local makeup artists; Yasmin Whitelaw, Francesca Spiers, Barbara Coney, Emma Ogden and hair stylist, William Smith.

Steam Packet Managing Director Brian Thomson commented:  “Every year we see the amazing efforts people go to making sure they look their best for the Grand National. We were amazed to discover passengers were starting their day as early as 3:00 am to fit in a beauty appointment ahead of their sailing.

As a Company, we want to put excellent customer service at the forefront of what we do. We all know the Grand National is a long day out; we want customers to have the best experience possible, and being able to stay in bed a few hours extra has to be a better way to start the day.

We’re also really passionate about working with local suppliers where possible, and this is a chance to help showcase great local talent while giving our customers a better experience – it’s a win-win as far as we’re concerned.”
